For Recruitment Against Scouts & Guides Quota
General
Q1. I want to join Southern Railways against Scouts & Guides quota. How to apply?
A1. Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC) recruits candidates for Group ‘C’ and Group ‘D’ posts in Southern Railway against Scouts & Guides quota.
RRC issues advertisements in Employment News and in local newspapers calling for applications from the eligible candidates by giving full details of recruitment. As and when the advertisement is issued, you have to read the instructions carefully and apply as indicated in the advertisement.

Q2. How to fill up the Application Form?
A2. The instructions to fill up the ‘Application Form’ are given in the Notification. One has to go through the instructions carefully before starting filling up the Application Form.

Q3. How much fee I have to pay?
A3. The amount indicated in the Notification has to be paid by each candidate. However, candidates belonging to SC / ST, Ex-Servicemen and Physically Disabled category are exempted from the payment of fees.
The fee has to be paid either through Postal Order or by Demand Draft. Both the instruments should have minimum 6 months validity from the date of issue of Notification.

Q4. What are the minimum Scouting Qualifications required for Group ‘C’ and Group ‘D’ posts?
A4. The Scouting Qualifications are common for both Group ‘C’ and Group ‘D’ posts.
For details, you may refer the Policies for recruitment against Scouts & Guides under the menu “Policies – Scouts & Guides”.

Q5. What are the minimum Educational Qualifications required for Group ‘C’ and Group ‘D’ posts against Scouts & Guides quota?
A5. The Educational Qualifications are different for both Group ‘C’ and Group ‘D’ posts.

Q6. How to send the Application Form?
A6. Application in the prescribed format, complete in all respects, along with all the enclosures should be sent by Ordinary Post to the address indicated in the Notification.
Applications sent by Registered Post, Speed Post and Courier will not be acknowledged by the officials. However, the Agencies can drop the Applications in the box kept in the Office premises.

Q7. I have sent my Application to RRC by post. How do I know that my Application has reached RRC and whether I am eligible or not?
A7. No separate acknowledgement is given by the RRC. The Applications are processed after the last date is over for receipt of Applications. Then, the ‘Eligible’ and ‘Ineligible’ List is published in RRC’s website (www.rrcchennai.org.in). The reasons for rejecting an Application Form are also indicated in the ‘Ineligible’ list.

Q8. How the recruitment is made for appointment in Group ‘C’ and Group ‘D’ posts against Scouts & Guides Quota?

Written Examination
Q9. I have applied for recruitment against Scouts & Guides quota and my name is also available in the ‘Eligible’ List. When will I be called for the Written Examination?
A9. The selection process for recruitment of candidates against Scouts & Guides quota commences with Written Examination. As and when the preparatory works are over, the ‘Eligible’ candidates will be issued with Call Letter duly indicating the Date, Time and Venue of the Written Examination.
The Date, Time and Venue of the Written Examination will also be published in the website. The ‘Eligible’ candidates whoever received the Call Letter will have to appear at the Venue on the Date and Time indicated in the Call Letter without fail. Request, if any, for change of Date and Venue will not be entertained under any circumstances.

Q10. When the results of the Written Examination will be published?
A10. The Written Examination results will be published as early as possible. You may browse the RRC, Southern Railway’s website (www.rrcchennai.org.in).

Document Verification & Personality Test / Interview
Q11. I have successfully cleared the Written Examination. What is the next stage of selection process? When will I be called for that?
A11. The candidates, whoever successfully cleared the Written Examination, will be called for Document Verification and Personality Test / Interview by issuing a Call Letter. The Call Letter will indicate the Date, Time and Venue of for the Document Verification and Personality Test / Interview.
You have to bring all your original Certificates in proof of Educational, Technical and Scouting qualifications for Document Verification and Personality Test / Interview.

Q12. When the results of the Personality Test / Interview will be published?
A12. The Panel containing the list of selected candidates will be published immediately after the completion of Personality Test / Interview. You may browse the RRC, Southern Railway’s website (www.rrcchennai.org.in). The successful candidates shall be intimated individually.

A11. The candidates, whoever successfully cleared the Written Examination, will be called for Document Verification and for Assessment of Talent by Practical Demonstration by issuing a Call Letter. The Call Letter will indicate the Date, Time and Venue of the Document Verification and Assessment of Talent by Practical Demonstration.
All the Certificates in proof of Educational, Technical and Cultural qualifications in original have to be brought for Document Verification and Assessment of Talent by Practical Demonstration.

Q12. When the results of the Assessment of Talent by Practical Demonstration will be published?
A12. The Panel containing the list of selected candidates will be published immediately after the completion of Assessment of Talent by Practical Demonstration. You may browse the RRC, Southern Railway’s website (www.rrcchennai.org.in). The successful candidates shall be intimated individually.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
Q6. I have applied for a post in Group ‘D’ and my name is also available in the ‘Eligible’ List. When will I be called for the PET?
A6. The selection process for recruitment of candidates in Group ‘D’ posts commences with Physical Efficiency Test (PET). As and when the preparatory works are over, the ‘Eligible’ candidates will be issued with Call Letter duly indicating the Date, Time and Venue of the PET Centre.
The Date, Time and Venue of the PET Centre will also be published in the website. The ‘Eligible’ candidates whoever received the Call Letter will have to appear at the PET Centre on the Date and Time indicated in the Call Letter without fail. Request, if any, for change of Date and Venue will not be entertained under any circumstances.

Q7. My name is available in the ‘Eligible’ candidates List and Date for PET is also indicated against my name. However, I have not received the Call Letter even one week before the Date of PET. What is to be done?
A7. You have to report at RRC personally three days in advance and submit a written request. After verifying the credentials, Duplicate Call Letter will be issued. You may also contact RRC over phone before leaving your place.

Q8. What are the criteria for PET?
A8. The Male candidates should run for a distance of 1500 metres in 6 minutes in one chance and Female candidates should run for a distance of 400 metres in 3 minutes in one chance.
Having adequate practice in running 1500 / 400 metres is very much desirable for competing in the PET. Further, if you have not run long distance in the recent past, you are advised to get medically examined in your own interest, before coming for the PET.

Q9. Is there any dress code prescribed for participating in PET?
A9. No dress code is prescribed. However, you are advised to wear comfortable dresses which suites long distance running. You may also wear shoes, if so desire.

Q10. How to report for PET?
A10. You are advised to report at PET venue with your Call Letter. Any other materials, brought by you will not be allowed inside the PET venue and you have to keep it outside.

Q11. When the results of the PET will be published?
A11. As far as possible, the result of the PET will be published on the same day. You may browse the RRC, Southern Railway’s website (www.rrcchennai.org.in).

Written Examination
Q12. I have successfully cleared the Physical Efficiency Test (PET). What is the next stage of selection process? When will I be called for that?
A12. The second stage of selection process for recruitment of candidates in Group ‘D’ posts is Written Examination. As and when the preparatory works are over, the candidates, whoever successfully cleared the PET, will be called for the Written Examination by issuing a Call Letter. The PET qualified candidates whoever received the Call Letter will have to appear at the Venue on the Date and Time indicated in the Call Letter without fail.
